It's the time of year our clan picks one of it's members to be honored with the highest service medal award we have to offer, (The Medal of Honor). With only one person in the thoughts of the Board of Ribbons and the clan, it is with great pleasure we award this years Medal of Honor to..

To All,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the members of TKC who voted for me to receive this award. When the leaders decided it would be neat to have ribbons and medals for members to strive to achieve, we thought there should be some special medals that would be extremely hard to earn. Just like membership into TKC is a difficult and hard process, that once achieved brings a great sense of accomplishment, we wanted these medals to mean something to whoever might win them, and it does.

I had directed Scot, who is the Board of Ribbons director, that I should be excluded from the award this year as I didn't want it to seem that we created this stuff just to honor ourselves. Apparently that didn't fly very well once they had their first Board meeting and I must say, I feel honored by it. To all the board members, thank you for ignoring my instructions.. I guess. ;)

To sum it all up, to win the highest honor given to any clan member is very neat and I thank everyone very much.

What does TKC stand for?

TKC stands for "The Killing Committee".


Who started TKC?

TKC was founded by Big Flem and Squidward.

Currently TKC plays and supports, Half-Life 2 Deathmatch, Half-Life 2 Capture the Flag, Left 4 Dead, Team Fortress 2 and Call of Duty 4 Modern Warefare.

You can easily find any of our servers by using the "Server Status" tab. If you download and install a small piece of software called "Gametracker Lite", downloadable when you click "Join", you will be able to join our servers directly from the website (Currently doesn't work in Firefox).


What is TKC's philosophy towards maintaining and supervising their servers?

TKC servers are well run and every attempt is made to ensure the playing environment is safe for all ages. No profanity or rude behavior is tolerated on any of our 6 servers. TKC tries to have round the clock administration for it's servers but obviously sometimes a server will have no admin playing so if you witness any abuse please attempt to report the offending players nickname, and if possible Steam ID, to one of our admin's. In addition cheating is not tolerated on our servers. We are protected by VAC, steambans.com and punkbuster depending on the game. If caught cheating your information will be submitted to steambans.com (if the game is steambans enabled) and you will be added to their database which will ban your Steam ID, at present, on over 9,000 servers.


How do I become a member?

Clan membership is by invite only. Once you start playing on one of our servers and establish yourself as a regular who demonstrates good manners, sportsmanship and at the very least a marginal ability to play the game, one of the Founders or Clan Leaders, will take notice and an invitation may be offered. Players who come to our servers and ask for admin powers or continue to ask about membership after they have been told membership is by invite only will damage the likelihood of being invited to join. My best advice is this: come to one of our servers, continue to play on that server for 3 or 4 weeks, maybe longer, show yourself to be well mannered, at least somewhat skilled, and you will most likely be offered the chance to join.


I've been invited, now what?

Membership into TKC is not easy. We believe in quality over quantity. If you have been given the registration password that does NOT mean you are a member. Once you have registered on our website you are a "member candidate". What this means is the clan members (non-leaders) will privately start voting on if they approve of your membership. If you receive 75% "Yes" votes from the clan members that counts as a single clan leader vote to allow full membership. In order to earn full membership you must have 2 clan/division leader votes. This means you have to impress both the clan members and leadership. During this time you are not allowed to wear clan tags. You will be informed if you gained entry into the clan and if so, at that time a clan leader will get with you so you can be setup to wear our tags, make sure you have all access you need, etc.


Ok I'm a member now, what is expected of me?

So now you're a member of TKC congrats! It is important for you to note that membership in TKC is not a lifetime privilege. Only the clan founders Big Flem and Squidward have lifetime membership and can not be removed. Clan leaders expect it's members to participate in clan activites when they can, and to be an ACTIVE member in the clan. We consider active members to be members who regularly post on the forums, participate in clan activities when possible, and communicates and develops friendships inside the clan. We do NOT consider a member to be active if they only ever play on our servers and nothing more. The leaders of this clan work hard to organize events and if you can't support these activities, can't check and post on the forums at least once or twice a week, then you are not TKC material and eventually you will be kicked from the clan. If you do not think you can meet these requirements as a member of TKC, then please don't attempt to gain entry into the clan as you will only waste your time, and ours.


Do members have ranks?

Beyond administration positions such as "Clan Leader", "Division Leader", etc, the answer is no. However we do have achievable military style ribbons and medals that can be won for various acts. You may see each members ribbon and medal "Display Case" by going to the "Members" tab and under each members profile clicking the "Awards" icon. Below is each award and how you obtain that award. Note that medals also have an associative ribbon:

	A member who helped found clan TKC.		A member who donates at least $10-$50 to the clan.
	A member who has obtained the rank of Clan Leader.		A member who donates at least $51-$200 to the clan.
	A member who has obtained the rank of Division Leader.		A member who donates at least $201+ to the clan.
	A member who has obtained the rank of Server Admin.		A member who has participated in a TKC fundraiser.
	A member who has earned the eLitE tags for HL2DM.		A member who has won the 8th eLitE slot by being 1st in that months skill competition.
	A member who has finished 1st in rank while earning the eLitE tags for HL2DM.		A member who has competed in a special event and has been victorious in some aspect of that event.
	A member who has earned the eLitE tags for COD4.		A member who participates regularly in clan events and the forums.
	A member who has finished 1st in rank while earning the eLitE tags for COD4.		A member who has passed TKC membership candidacy to become a full member of the clan.
	A member who has submitted at least 5 demos that have been accepted and approved by Steambans.		A member who has competed in a clan war.
	A member who has submitted at least 10 demos that have been accepted and approved by Steambans.		A member who has displayed excellent conduct in all things over an extended period of many months.
	A member who has submitted at least 25 demos that have been accepted and approved by Steambans.		A member who has recruited another member into the clan.
	A member who has posted at least 1000 times on forums.		A member who has won the Distinguished Service Cross.
	A member who has posted at least 5000 times on forums.		A member who has won the Defense Superior Service.
	A member who has posted at least 10000 times on forums.		A member who has won the Spirit of TKC.
A member who has won the Medal of Honor the clans highest honor given once a year. A member who has won the Member of the Year the clans 2nd highest honor. A member who has won the Founders Award the clans 3rd highest honor.
Medals Spirt of TKC Medal of Honor Defense Superior Service Conduct Medal: This medal is given to any member who displays good conduct toward others, and shows great TKC pride, spirit and enthusiasm for the clan. This is someone who embodies the heart of the clan. Service Medal: The clans highest honor. This is given to a member who continuously goes above and beyond, shows excellent conduct and contributes in every way possible to the clan. Conduct & Skill Medal: Given to any member who has lead his team to victory in a clan war on several occasions, leading in both skill and manner toward the opponent. Distinguished Service Cross Member of the Year Founders Award Conduct Medal: Given to any member who leads by example by sacrificing for the good of the clan and the clan members. Service Medal: The clans second highest honor. This is a member who for the past year has been in excellent standing at all times, participated in most clan events, and showed outstanding conducted to all. Service Medal: This medal is awarded at the discretion of clan leaders. The award is won in many ways including, a history of good conduct, fair play, exceptional financial support, skill displayed in an important match, etc. It can also be awarded, potentially, for a single act that brings great honor to the clan.

I'm a good member of TKC and I follow all the rules, can I be a server admin?

In the past TKC had too many admins on our servers and things got a little out of hand. We are not looking for any new admins, however if we feel you will make a good addition to that team we will ask you. Being a server admin is not fun and games. It requires you to WORK, and follow server administrator rules which are well defined once you become an admin. Our admins are forced to stop playing whatever game they might be playing, and work to secure and maintain server tranquility reguarly. If you are an admin that does not mean you will get to run willy nilly and ban, kick, and torture at will. Admins who do not follow our rules will be stripped of admin duties and power. In addition there are more requirements of admins such as, reguarly checking our server admins forum. Once you become an admin you will be given access to this forum and you must check and read it quite often. It is a way for admins to help one another by posting their thoughts on what is going on, who to watch closely, etc. Do not ask us constantly to be an admin, that is the surest way I know to never become an admin. Our leaders will identify the best candidates for admin duties if we think it necessary.


I just got a game server, can I make it a TKC server?

No. In order to have an official TKC server it must meet certain standards. In addition, we might not want a server for a particular game, and if you aren't an admin, then you shouldn't have admin authority on any server. Official TKC servers have to be setup as close to identical as possible. This means that the clan leaders must have all access to any of it's servers including the ability to restart that server, gain access via FTP and game panel. It means that the clan leaders can setup the server with it's normal settings and add the usual addons. In short, if you want to have your own server then that is fine, but don't try to name it "Boom Boom Room" or tie it in any way to TKC.
